THERE'S MORE TO THE CORPS
Members of the CCC have opportunities to take advantage of special programs while in the Corps.
These programs include several different AmeriCorps programs, ranging from the Watershed Stewards Program to SafeCorps to YouthServe.
Corpsmembers may also apply to spend five months living in the wilderness in Yosemite and other locations through the Backcountry Trails Program.
Most corpsmembers have a chance to see more of California during their year in the CCC; it's also possible to see a little of the world. Each year the Corps participates in a work exchange with Conservation Volunteers Australia and also sends a corpsmember to Lake Baikal in Russia as part of the Tahoe-Baikal exchange.
The Salmon Restoration Program, a longtime partnership with the Department of Fish and Game, offers corpsmembers a chance to help in saving endangered salmon and steelhead through fish habitat enhancement work. The program is the largest effort of its kind in the country.
