Life at the Center
Resource crews work Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Corpsmembers must be prepared to start work with their proper uniform, lunch, water and full safety gear by roll call at 7 a.m. Most projects are within a one-hour drive from the center.
Corpsmembers work hard physically, pushing themselves to do their personal best. We embrace the CCC motto: "Hard work, low pay, miserable conditions and more!" Hard work builds character and helps corpsmembers understand that consistent effort pays.
The crews return to the center around 5 p.m. They clean and put away tools and clean vehicles. Some evenings, classes are available. Our strong partnership with the John Muir Charter School has been cultivated over many years and supports corpsmembers pursuing their high school diplomas.
Corpsmembers without high school diplomas must work towards their diplomas through JMCS. Students are expected to complete 10 educational hours per week. Corpsmembers with high school diplomas are expected to complete a minimum of three educational hours per week.
On weekends there are plenty of community volunteer activities offered to interest corpsmembers and meet the CCC’s requirement for volunteer service.
