After an earthquake occurs, CCC crews can be sent where needed within hours.  Past efforts have included distributing food, water and other supplies to residents; general debris cleanup; dismantling of hazardous chimneys and walls; and employment of young people displaced by the earthquake. The Corps works with the Red Cross and also helps staff disaster assistance centers.

Some of the CCC’s earthquake recovery efforts have included:

1983  Coalinga

1987  Whittier/Alhambra

1989  Loma Prieta

1992   Ferndale (April) and Landers (June)

1994   Northridge
