The California Conservation Corps has an international reputation as an innovative program combining youth and the environment to the benefit of both. The United Nations recognized the CCC with a U.N. Environmental Programme Medal for leadership in involving youth in environmental projects.
In 1983, the CCC expanded corpsmember opportunities to include work exchanges in other countries. Since 1988, the CCC has exchanged participants in its largest ongoing international effort, with Conservation Volunteers Australia.
