The CCC stands ready to serve the citizens of California through the activities of our most valuable resource, our young people. Our corpsmembers fight fires throughout the state, protect levees from the threat of flooding and restore habitat making it easier for salmon swimming upstream to spawn. You'll also find corpsmembers in Yosemite building trails of granite and restoring fragile meadows.
CORPSMEMBERS SERVE OUR COMMUNITIES Every corpsmember gives back! Corpsmembers serve our communities by engaging in disaster prevention and emergency response activities, environmental preservation work and service to urban and rural communities. The young men and women of the CCC are empowered through the development of the work ethic, education and employment training opportunities.
CORPSMEMBERS IMPROVE THE ENVIRONMENT The CCC improves California by engaging corpsmembers in the protection of our natural resources. As environmental stewards the CCC provides a tremendous public benefit to the citizens and taxpayers of the state. Since its inception more than 95,000 young Californians have worked 54 million hours improving our environment and communities.
CORPSMEMBERS WORK FOR YOUR AGENCY Corpsmembers work for local, state and federal agencies, as well as nonprofit organizations. The CCC takes on projects with a public benefit, particularly those that can assist corpsmembers in developing employable skills. Whether your agency is looking for a full crew or an intern or two, consider the CCC.
CORPSMEMBERS BOOST THEIR EDUCATION Along with the environmental work, corpsmembers must work to advance their education while in the CCC. For those without high school diplomas, GED or high school courses are required. Charter school and adult education partners assist several hundred corpsmembers in earning their GEDs and diplomas. In addition, those meeting CCC requirements may earn up to $2,000 in scholarship money to continue their education after the Corps, either at an academic or vocational school. National service part-time and full-time scholarships are also available to some corpsmembers during their CCC service.
CORPSMEMBERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE Our corpsmembers make a difference and become contributing citizens to our state and nation. Explore our Web site and find a way to get involved with the CCC. Together, we can make a difference for California's youth, its environment and its communities!
