• Received the United Nations Environmental Programme Medal for leadership in engaging youth in environmental projects.
  
• Received the Times-Mirror Chevron Conservation Award for exceptional service to the cause of conservation.
  
• Received the Renew America National Environmental Achievement Award for the Salmon Restoration Program’s work improving fish habitat.
  
• Received the Federal Department of Energy Award for recycling newspapers to be used as cellulose insulation.
  
• Received recognition as the “best and longest-running program of its kind in the country” -- Tom Brokaw, NBC Nightly News.

• President George W. Bush, 2002:
  (In Stockton, August 23, 2002, after meeting corpsmember Malikah Rashied of the CCC's Delta Center in Stockton.)
  Today, at Airforce 1, I met Malikah Rashied... She volunteers for the country. In this case, she works for the California Conservation Corps, assisting in fire prevention cleanup projects. I mention her because I want people to understand that I understand the true strength of America. It's not in the halls of our government but in the hearts of our people. And there are people like her all across the country who are willing to try to make the communities in which they live a better place for all of us. I appreciate your service. I also appreciate you working on fire prevention."
